Australian ex-IT worker Perry to be sentenced for possessing and sharing child abuse material, including AI-generated images.
Ian Charles Harcourt Perry, 42, a former Australian Federal Police IT employee, is set to be sentenced at the ACT Supreme Court after pleading guilty to three charges involving child sexual abuse material.
Prosecutors said he paid $3,560 for 95 images and videos, including 44 computer-generated depictions of children in degrading acts, with eight victims identified.
He admitted to possessing and transmitting the material, some hidden in complex ways.
The prosecution sought full-time custody, citing deterrence and distribution, while the defense requested a community-based sentence, highlighting Perry’s three years of rehabilitation efforts and limited access to similar programs in prison.
Justice Louise Taylor noted uncertainty about rehabilitative resources at the Alexander Maconochie Centre and deferred sentencing.
Support services are available for affected individuals.
