A 26-year-old man in St Helens was arrested for drug driving during his test after a faulty brake light led to a stop and detection of cannabis.
A 26-year-old man from Wigan was arrested on suspicion of drug driving in St Helens on March 1 while taking his driving test, after police stopped his vehicle for a faulty brake light.
Officers detected the smell of cannabis, confirmed by a drugs test, and found cannabis in his possession.
He was released under investigation.
Roads Policing Inspector Simon Wilson stressed that drug driving is a serious threat to public safety, and Merseyside Police reiterated their ongoing efforts through Operation Limit to combat impaired driving, urging the public to report concerns via 999, 101, or Crimestoppers.
