A 32-year-old Lake Macquarie man was sentenced to four years and six months in jail for repeated domestic violence offenses, including choking, punching, threatening to kill, and breaking into his victim’s home despite a provisional apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) in place.
The victim, protected by the ADVO for only a week in August 2024, endured multiple breaches, including property destruction, phone damage, and physical assaults, with a November incident involving knife threats and neighbor intervention.
The man, with no prior criminal record and significant mental health concerns, pleaded guilty to charges including aggravated break and enter, assault, and contravening the ADVO.
The court imposed a non-parole period of two years and nine months, making him eligible for release in July 2027.
