A 19-year-old Athens man faces rape, kidnapping, and sexual battery charges after allegedly assaulting a UGA student early Saturday near North Thomas Street. A 19-year-old Athens man, Tydarius Wingfield, has been charged with rape, kidnapping, and aggravated sexual battery after allegedly assaulting a University of Georgia student early Saturday morning near North Thomas Street. Police say Wingfield approached the victim, whom he did not know, offered to walk her home, then forced her behind a building where the assault occurred.
