Thai business sentiment edged up in February, but future expectations dipped.
Thailand's business sentiment rose slightly to 49.6 in February from 49.1 in January, driven by stronger manufacturing activity, particularly in steel and AI-related electronics like semiconductors and hard disk drives.
While manufacturing sentiment improved across most sectors, non-manufacturing remained stable, with retail trade declining due to weak consumer spending and tourism-related industries slipping during the off-season.
The three-month projected business sentiment index fell to 52 from 52.3, reflecting softer expectations for future performance, investment, and orders.
The data is based on a survey of 677 large and medium-sized firms.
