A historic royal christening gown, commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1840, will be publicly displayed for the first time at The King’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace from April 10 to October 18, 2026, as part of a centenary exhibition honoring Queen Elizabeth II’s birth.
The gown, worn by 62 royal babies including Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, and Prince William, underwent over 100 hours of restoration.
A replica made in 2004 by the late queen’s dresser Angela Kelly now serves for current christenings.
The exhibit includes accompanying accessories and handwritten records of those baptized in the gown, highlighting its enduring tradition and significance.
