A rare collection of U.S. historical documents begins a nationwide tour to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Some of the U.S.'s most significant historical documents, including the Treaty of Paris, Articles of Association, a rare Declaration of Independence engraving, oaths by Washington and Hamilton, and a handwritten Constitution draft, are beginning a first-of-its-kind nationwide tour for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Transported by a specially equipped "Freedom Plane" from Washington, D.C., the documents will be displayed in major cities including Kansas City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Seattle, with free public exhibitions and school visits already drawing strong interest.
The tour, inspired by the 1975–76 American Freedom Train, is part of broader commemorations led by a congressionally chartered commission and the White House, including events like a Great American State Fair and youth sports competitions.
