Over 130 residents evacuated from Santa Clara’s Villa Bella condos due to structural concerns; no immediate collapse risk, but repairs needed.
Over 130 residents of the 56-unit Villa Bella condo complex in Santa Clara were evacuated after structural concerns, including displaced concrete, raised fears of collapse.
The Santa Clara Fire Department responded Saturday evening, closing parts of El Camino Real and relocating about 60 residents and 10 Clay Street homes.
Engineers later determined no immediate collapse risk, allowing Clay Street residents to return, but shoring is needed on the building’s north side before others can return.
The developer will cover repairs.
Most displaced residents made their own arrangements, though shelter and support were offered.
