Odisha declared two districts Naxal-free after 15 Maoists surrendered, part of a broader effort to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026.
Odisha has declared Bolangir and Bargarh districts Naxal-free after 15 Maoists, including a senior leader, surrendered in neighboring Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district.
The move, credited to joint security operations, intelligence, and a rehabilitation policy offering financial aid and jobs, dismantled the Balangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund Maoist division.
Officials say seven districts are now free of Naxal activity, with ongoing operations in Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Kalahandi.
The state aims to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026.
