The accident began when a 19-year-old man from Minneapolis rear-ended a Jeep Cherokee merging from I-135, causing it to lose control and collide with a second vehicle.
A 24-year-old man from Arkansas was then involved in a rear-end collision with the first vehicle.
The Jeep driver, Sara Kay Wellbrock, was taken to Salina Regional Health Center, while the other two drivers were not injured.
All three were wearing seat belts.
Westbound lanes were temporarily closed, and weather conditions included snow, sleet, and ice.
