India and Japan launched Phase II of their development pact to boost sustainability in India’s underserved regions.
India and Japan signed a pact on March 2, 2026, to expand sustainable development efforts in India’s Aspirational Districts and Blocks, marking Phase II of their joint initiative toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The agreement, between NITI Aayog and JICA, focuses on six areas: health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water, financial inclusion, infrastructure, and global partnerships.
It aims to strengthen local institutions, improve monitoring and evaluation, and promote knowledge sharing through forums and exchanges.
