One year after its launch by Prime Minister Modi, Gujarat’s Vantara wildlife center reported significant progress in rescuing and rehabilitating animals, including big cats, elephants, and reptiles, with over 50 international rescue operations and 15 rapid response missions.
Designated India’s National Referral Centre for Wildlife (West Zone), it processes over 2,000 diagnostic samples daily through a network of 11 satellite labs and a central lab.
The center produces 156,000 kg of animal nutrition daily, supports rewilding efforts like releasing 53 spotted deer, and aids disaster response, including during Punjab floods.
It has trained hundreds of veterinarians, engaged thousands in conservation, and earned international recognition.
