Focus Graphite launches $14.1M Canadian project to boost high-purity graphite for batteries and clean tech.
Focus Graphite has launched a $14.1 million government-backed pilot project in Ontario, funded by Natural Resources Canada, to advance domestic high-purity graphite production.
The initiative, starting with a six-tonne ore shipment from the Lac Knife Project, aims to produce about 500 kg of concentrate with 95% graphitic carbon through pilot-scale processing.
SGS will conduct testing, with results delivered to technology partner TMEC in eight to nine weeks to support reactor design.
The three-month program includes data collection and reporting, supporting Canada’s goal of a vertically integrated graphite supply chain for batteries, defense, and clean tech.
The company is also evaluating sites in Quebec and Ontario for a future thermal purification plant.
