DIGITAL has invested $4 million to advance Novamera Inc.’s Surgical Mining technology, an AI-driven, low-impact method to extract critical minerals like copper and rare earth elements from narrow, deep, or remote deposits in North America. The project, developing a first-of-its-kind permitting pathway in Ontario, uses advanced imaging, robotics, and real-time modeling to reduce environmental impact and costs. Building on a successful 2025 pilot in Newfoundland, the technology improves precision, efficiency, and sustainability. The initiative supports domestic supply chain resilience amid rising demand for minerals in electrification, defense, and digital infrastructure.
