A Delhi Special POCSO Court has ordered the police commissioner to submit a clear, unified report on a six-month-old case involving the alleged sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl by a senior medical officer, criticizing delays and conflicting updates from police.
The court expressed concern over the failure to file a charge sheet within the legal two-month timeframe, noting contradictions between reports claiming the investigation was complete and those stating key steps like witness interviews and medical exams were still pending.
The case, registered in August 2025 at PS Mangol Puri, involves allegations of multiple assaults at the victim’s West Delhi residence.
The court rejected the practice of allowing the accused to "join the investigation" without coercion, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges under the POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A final report is due by March 13, 2026, when the case will be heard again.
