A British man with rare cancer raises funds for private treatment after NHS options are limited.
Nicholas Brace, 44, a father from Essex, was diagnosed with secondary stomach cancer in January 2026 after persistent pain initially mistaken for overindulgence.
Previously in remission from bowel cancer since 2023, he was found to have an inoperable tumour between his pancreas and stomach, suspected to be a rare gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST).
Due to limited NHS treatment options, his family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise £8,000 for private care, including scans and chemotherapy, and has already surpassed £7,000 with support from social media efforts by his daughters.
The family has adopted a healthier lifestyle, preparing meals from scratch and consuming pomegranate daily, while Nicholas remains hopeful and determined.
Any remaining funds will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
