A fatal crash on Maryland Route 480 in Caroline County on February 27, 2026, killed 30-year-old Joseph Dsouza of Ridgely after a box truck crossed into the southbound lane, causing his car to swerve and crash. Passenger Hillary Coelho, 50, and truck driver James Sherry, 50, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating, with impairment considered a possible factor. No charges have been filed.
