A man has been charged with murder in the June 2025 hit-and-run death of Marcel Rostas in Balbriggan.

A man has been charged with murder in connection with the June 24, 2025, fatal hit-and-run crash in Balbriggan, County Dublin, where Marcel Rostas, a 33-year-old father of three, died from multiple traumatic injuries. A black saloon car linked to the collision was abandoned on Drogheda Street. Rostas’ brother identified the body at the Dublin City Mortuary. Gardaí urged the public not to share images or videos of the scene. The inquest was adjourned under the Coroners Act due to ongoing criminal proceedings. Initially charged with assault, the case was upgraded to murder. The accused, Daniel Rostas, a 42-year-old Romanian national unrelated to the victim, appeared in court without making a statement. The inquest will resume after the criminal case concludes.
