India's February 2026 GST collections rose 8.1% year-on-year, driven by stronger imports and domestic demand.
India's gross GST collections reached ₹1.83 lakh crore in February 2026, an 8.1% year-on-year increase, driven by a 17.2% rise in import-related revenue and steady domestic consumption. Net collections after refunds totaled ₹1.61 lakh crore, up 7.9%, with domestic revenue growing 5.3%. Cumulative FY25-26 collections hit ₹20.27 lakh crore, up 8.3%. While some states like Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh saw declines, others, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, and several northeastern states, reported gains. Net cess revenue dropped sharply to ₹5,063 crore. Experts attribute the resilience to strong consumer demand and improved tax compliance following reforms introduced in September 2025.
