An eight-bedsit project in Ambleside was rejected due to unclear use, access issues, and flood risks, with the site still under enforcement action.
A planning appeal for an eight-bedsit project on land off the A591 in Ambleside, Lake District, has been rejected by inspector S Brook.
The decision follows a December 2025 enforcement ruling requiring removal of unauthorized materials and restoration of the site to its original agricultural state.
While the inspector acknowledged potential benefits for tourism staff housing, the proposal was dismissed due to unclear use—temporary or permanent—and unresolved issues including access to shared facilities in bad weather, visual impact from a nearby approved food store, and concerns over surface water drainage increasing flood risk.
The site remains under enforcement action with no new development approved.
