A banned, unregistered XL bully dog linked to Scott Samson’s 2025 death will be euthanized after a court order.
A four-year-old illegal XL bully dog, believed to have attacked and partially consumed Scott Samson in his Rutherglen home in March 2025, will be euthanized after a Glasgow Sheriff Court ordered its destruction.
Samson’s body was found in a blood-soaked living room with the dog present.
A post-mortem could not confirm if he died from the attack or natural causes.
The dog, unregistered and confirmed as a banned XL bully, was owned by Neal Stark, who gave it to Samson while jailed.
It has been held at a specialized kennel at a cost of nearly £50,000 annually.
Prosecutors decided not to file criminal charges.
Samson’s mother said police initially told her he died of a drug overdose, but later learned of the possible attack.
The dog will be euthanized as ordered.
