Thomas Simpkins, a 44-year-old Santa Clara father, was found dead on February 14 in San Tomas Aquino Creek near Levi’s Stadium, six days after he went missing following a Super Bowl party in South San Jose.
Last seen around 9 p.m. on February 8, he failed to show up for work the next day, prompting a missing persons report.
His body was identified by a large tattoo, and his phone and wallet were missing.
Authorities are investigating the cause and manner of death, which remain undetermined.
The Santa Clara Police Department confirmed the case was handled according to protocol, though Simpkins’ sister criticized delays and jurisdictional confusion.
