A propane truck overturned on US Highway 2 near Orondo on February 27, injuring the 54-year-old driver, Ronald E. Gladsjo, who was wearing a seatbelt and not impaired. The crash, which occurred at 1:34 p.m. near milepost 139 in Douglas County, triggered a level 2 hazmat response and a shelter-in-place order for residents between mile markers 138 and 139. Six homes were in the immediate spill zone, with evacuees directed to a church in East Wenatchee. The highway remains closed, with no reopening timeline, and motorists are urged to use detours. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
