Missouri honors two deputies killed in Feb. 23–24 line-of-duty incidents with half-staff flags.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe ordered flags at half-staff on February 28, 2026, across Christian and Greene counties and all law enforcement facilities to honor Deputy Sheriffs Gabriel Ramirez and Michael Hislope, killed in the line of duty.
Ramirez was fatally shot during a traffic stop on February 23, and Hislope died the next day during a pursuit of the same suspect.
Both were U.S. Army veterans, with Ramirez having served in Iraq and joined the sheriff’s office in July 2025, and Hislope bringing prior experience from St. Louis County.
Governor Kehoe praised their service and sacrifice, extended condolences to their families, and acknowledged the coordinated response by law enforcement agencies.
Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset and during their funerals.
