Elvis Berisha sentenced to life without parole for 25 years for killing Tineisha Chatwin in 2021.
Elvis Berisha, 26, was sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 25 years after being convicted of first-degree murder in the 2021 shooting death of 22-year-old Tineisha Chatwin in her St. Catharines apartment.
The jury rejected Berisha’s claim of accidental discharge while intoxicated, finding him guilty after six hours of deliberation.
Evidence included a video showing Berisha holding a rifle as Chatwin asked if he would shoot her, and a letter from his cell stating, “If I can’t have her, nobody will.” Chatwin, a Niagara College student planning her future, had recently ended their relationship.
Her family described her as vibrant and full of potential.
The judge called the crime “horrific and irreversible,” emphasizing the lasting trauma on her loved ones.
