A Delhi court granted bail to Uday Bhanu Chib after police custody, but it was stayed after a higher court ordered him held pending document verification.
A Delhi court initially granted bail to Indian Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib on February 28 after four days of police custody in connection with a shirtless protest at the India AI Impact Summit.
The duty magistrate rejected the Delhi Police’s request for a seven-day custody extension, citing insufficient justification and noting Chib was not physically present at the protest site.
Bail was granted on a Rs 50,000 bond with conditions including surrendering his passport and electronic devices.
However, the Patiala House Court later stayed the bail order, remanding Chib to judicial custody pending verification of documents, with a hearing scheduled for March 6.
Un tribunal de Delhi concedió la fianza a Uday Bhanu Chib después de la custodia policial, pero se suspendió después de que un tribunal superior ordenó que lo mantuviera pendiente de verificación de documentos.
