Brock University gets $6.4B in provincial funding to end financial strain, lift tuition freeze, and expand student spaces.
Brock University has received a $6.4-billion provincial investment over four years, its first major funding boost in over a decade, to address years of financial strain from budget cuts, frozen funding, and a tuition freeze.
The relief includes lifting the 2019 tuition freeze, allowing a 2% annual increase—about $170 per student—and increasing per-student funding to help close annual deficits exceeding $20 million.
President Lesley Rigg called the support transformative, enabling stabilization of operations, retention of staff, and preservation of essential services.
The province also allocated $1.7 billion to create 70,000 new student spaces in high-demand fields like nursing and engineering, with Brock expected to benefit.
While financial sustainability remains a challenge, the investment marks a pivotal step toward long-term stability.
