On February 27, 2026, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Mission Basundhara 3.0, distributing digital land pattas to 106,905 beneficiaries across the state, including 44,700 in Dhemaji district.
The initiative, part of a five-year effort, resolved land grievances for nearly 1 million families, with 769 of 903 previously unsurveyed villages surveyed under the SVAMITVA scheme and 538 forest dwellers granted rights under the Forest Rights Act.
The government aims to address the remaining 2-3 lakh land cases through upcoming phases, with future efforts focusing on land reclassification and rights for non-tribal forest dwellers.
A new Rs 49 crore district office was inaugurated in Dhemaji to improve administrative services.
