The state’s 124-page submission to the Productivity Commission highlights that despite its 75-cent GST share, WA still receives a $2.5 billion subsidy and claims the Commonwealth gains three to four times more in company tax revenue than the cost of the Northwest Offshore Gas grant.
WA wants to maintain the 2018 GST deal, end the "no worse off" guarantee by 2030, and encourage other states to develop mining sectors.
Federal leaders have pledged to uphold the current agreement, and an interim report is expected in August.
