A temporary ceasefire near Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest in Europe, began February 27, 2026, allowing repair work on damaged power infrastructure, including the Ferosplavna-1 line and outdoor switchgear, according to Russia’s Rosatom.
The truce, facilitated by IAEA chief Rafael Grossi, aims to restore critical power to the plant, which remains under Russian control since 2022 and relies on a single operational power line.
Repairs are expected to take at least a week.
Radiation levels remain stable and normal.
Ukraine has not commented.
The plant’s safety remains a key issue in ongoing U.S.-mediated peace talks set to resume in Geneva.
