On February 27, 2026, Singapore announced expanded efforts to leverage national servicemen’s civilian skills, particularly in cybersecurity, with NSmen deploying to sectoral cyber defense teams starting in June.
The Ministry of Defence is integrating NS certificates into the SkillsFuture Careers and Skills Passport and launching the SG Defence Volunteer Network to include women, permanent residents, and foreigners.
The Digital and Intelligence Service will enhance its cyber defense capabilities, while the SAF is modernizing training facilities and reviewing medical classifications for better role alignment.
MPs also urged stronger community engagement, better employer recognition of NS skills, and pathways for experienced cyber professionals to join the military.
