Sainsbury’s is cutting 300 tech and data jobs, merging teams, and restructuring to boost performance under its “Next Level” plan.
Sainsbury’s is cutting around 300 jobs, mainly in its technology and data teams, as part of a restructuring to streamline operations and improve performance across its supermarkets and Argos. The changes include merging tech teams into a single unit for Argos and two for Sainsbury’s, creating four new regional store director roles for convenience stores, overhauling Argos’s delivery model, and establishing a separate leadership board for Argos. The retailer is also launching a new marketplace within a year to expand product choices while maintaining quality and trust, building on its existing Click & Collect and Fast Track delivery services available across over 90% of UK postcodes. The moves are part of the company’s ongoing “Next Level” strategy, which has already led to over 3,000 job cuts, with no impact on delivery driver positions.
