A Romanian court upheld Wiz Khalifa’s nine-month jail sentence for cannabis possession and use at a 2024 concert, rejecting his appeal.
A Romanian court has rejected American rapper Wiz Khalifa’s appeal against a nine-month jail sentence for possessing over 18 grams of cannabis and consuming it on stage at a 2024 festival in Constanta County.
The Constanta Court of Appeal upheld his 2024 conviction for “possession of dangerous drugs, without right, for personal consumption,” ruling his appeal inadmissible and dismissing his request to suspend the sentence.
The original April ruling had fined him $830, but prosecutors appealed, leading to the harsher penalty.
Romania criminalizes personal cannabis use, with penalties up to two years in prison.
It remains unclear if authorities will seek extradition, as Khalifa is a U.S. citizen who does not reside in Romania.
His representatives have not commented.
