Porsche is changing its K1 SUV to use gas engines due to EV delays and weak demand, with a 2028 launch.
Porsche is shifting its upcoming three-row SUV, the K1, from an all-electric model to one with internal combustion engines, including V-6 and V-8 options, due to delays in EV platform development and weaker EV demand.
The K1 will use Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), shared with Audi’s Q9, enabling gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Expected to launch in 2028, it will compete with the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, offering multiple seating configurations.
While the initial version will be ICE-powered, an all-electric variant may come later.
