A new set of Mandarin cognitive tests developed by Rutgers and Stanford researchers has been validated for early Alzheimer’s detection in older Chinese Americans, addressing language and cultural barriers.
Tested on 208 adults across three U.S. regions, the tools show strong reliability, correlate with English-based assessments, and link to Alzheimer’s biomarkers.
The first of its kind for Mandarin speakers from China and Taiwan, the suite aims to improve equitable diagnosis, care access, and clinical trial participation.
Researchers plan to adapt it for Cantonese and other dialects.
