A Minnesota truck driver, unable to read road signs, drove the wrong way on Missouri’s Highway 61 before being stopped.
A semi-truck driver with a Minnesota-issued commercial driver’s license was stopped in Missouri after traveling the wrong way on Highway 61 for several miles, according to authorities.
Video footage showed the truck moving against traffic, passing oncoming vehicles before crossing the median and correcting course.
The driver, who failed a roadside inspection due to an inability to read basic road signs, was taken out of service and not arrested.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is investigating Cargo Transportation LLC, the company linked to the truck, while U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called the incident “disturbing” and emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen safety standards, including language requirements for CDL holders.
No injuries were reported.
