A Mayfield man was arrested for stabbing a man in a parking lot, admitting to the attack.

A 31-year-old Mayfield man, Hober Vasquez Orozco, was arrested in connection with a stabbing on February 25, 2026, in a business parking lot on Highway 45 North, about two miles north of Mayfield. Deputies responded around 6:34 p.m. to a report of a stabbing, finding an adult male victim with a minor stab wound who declined medical care. The suspect fled in a silver vehicle, but investigators identified Orozco and arrested him at his home on Backusburg Road, where he admitted to the crime. He was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment and taken to an out-of-county detention facility. Mayfield Police and Kentucky State Police assisted, and the case remains under investigation.
