Kenya’s Pesalink now links with PAPSS for real-time cross-border payments in local African currencies, cutting costs and delays.
Kenya’s Pesalink has partnered with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) to enable real-time, 24/7 cross-border payments across Africa using local currencies.
The integration connects over 80 Kenyan financial institutions with more than 160 PAPSS participants, reducing reliance on foreign currencies and correspondent banking.
This aims to lower transaction costs and settlement times, addressing high remittance fees averaging 7–8% and delays of 3–7 business days.
The move supports regional financial integration, benefiting individuals, SMEs, and businesses.
