India-Nepal border closes March 2–5, 2026, for Nepal’s elections, restricting trade but allowing essential goods and select travelers.
The India-Nepal border will be closed from midnight March 2 to midnight March 5, 2026, to support Nepal’s general elections on March 5, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs.
The closure affects all border outposts along the Banke district stretch, suspending import and export activities at the Rupaidiha Check Post, while allowing essential medicines and critical goods to pass.
