On February 27, 2026, the Indian Navy put into service INS Anjadip, the fourth of 16 locally constructed Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, at Chennai Port.
The 1,400-ton, 77-meter ship, which was named for a historic island close to Karwar, is outfitted with torpedoes, advanced anti-submarine systems, indigenous sonar, and a combat management system that was developed in-house.
It is built for quick reaction in coastal waters.
Its more than 80% domestic content reflects India's drive for defense manufacturing independence.
