Ghana’s High Court permits substituted service in contempt case against FBN Bank directors and legal officer over forged documents in forex dispute.
The High Court in Kumasi has authorized substituted service of contempt proceedings against FBN Bank Ghana Limited’s directors and legal officer, Michael Gyan Owusu, over allegations of submitting forged documents in a foreign exchange dispute.
The court allowed notice to be posted at the bank’s offices, on the court’s board, and in the Daily Graphic for ten days.
The case, filed by Kwame Owusu Boateng and Kessben Travels, claims the bank misrepresented a failed dollar transfer by presenting fraudulent import documents from Gadinesto Enterprise, which were later verified as non-existent by Ghana’s Revenue Authority.
The applicants argue the bank’s legal officer failed in his duty by not challenging the false evidence, undermining judicial integrity.
The matter remains before Justice Anokye Gyimah.
