A Garda in his 20s was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a speeding electric Surron-type motorcycle on a footpath in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on Thursday night. The incident occurred during a patrol targeting drug activity, when officers observed the rider, a man in his 30s with a covered face, traveling at high speed on a pedestrian path. When approached, the motorcyclist fled, colliding with the officer. Both were treated at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where the suspect was arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. The motorcycle was seized, and the investigation remains ongoing.
