On February 27, 2026, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated three infrastructure projects on National Waterway-2 (Brahmaputra River) in Dibrugarh, Assam, including modern Customs and Immigration Complexes at Bogibeel and Dhubri and a renovated heritage building of the Inland Waterways Authority of India.
The projects aim to enhance logistics, boost trade with Bangladesh and Bhutan, improve passenger movement, and promote riverine tourism.
Designed to integrate customs, immigration, and administrative functions, the complexes feature cargo storage, security systems, and dedicated facilities.
