A Dublin couple may go to jail for defying a 2023 court order to remove 30+ illegal structures, despite owning luxury cars and claiming financial hardship.
A Dublin couple, Frank and Sylvia Gaynor, may face jail for ignoring a 2023 court order to remove over 30 illegal structures from their property in north County Dublin, despite being given ample time to comply.
The couple, who own luxury vehicles, claim financial hardship and say they were unaware the legal process was final, though they have not allowed Fingal County Council inspectors access since the ruling.
Judge John O’Connor questioned Frank Gaynor’s credibility, noting his lack of cooperation, and warned of imprisonment if necessary.
Gaynor agreed to permit inspections on March 4 and both will return to court on March 6 to argue against jail.
The council confirmed it has never been granted entry to assess the site.
