CNBC merges TV and digital teams, cuts ~10 jobs, adds 40 new roles ahead of paywall launch.
CNBC is reorganizing its newsroom to merge TV and digital operations, resulting in nearly a dozen job cuts, including the departure of website managing editor Jeff McCracken, according to sources.
The move, led by Editor-in-Chief David Cho, aims to prepare for a forthcoming paywall on CNBC’s website and is not driven by cost-cutting.
The network plans to add about 40 new roles in the coming year.
The changes follow the spinoff of CNBC’s parent company, Versant Media, from Comcast, which has seen its stock drop over 30% since its January Nasdaq debut.
CNBC, known for real-time financial and business coverage, has not commented on the report.
