The Bridgnorth Cliff Railway closes March 2–6, 2026, for essential track stabilization work delayed by weather and subcontractor issues.
The Bridgnorth Cliff Railway will close from March 2 to March 6, 2026, for five days of long-delayed maintenance, including concreting the bottom 14 feet of its tracks to stabilize the foundation.
The work had been postponed twice—once in November due to subcontractor issues and again in February because of unsafe rainy conditions.
A weather break has now allowed the project to proceed, with trains still running during the closure to move materials and debris.
The railway’s chairman, Dr. Malvern Tipping, said the effort is critical for safety and the long-term operation of the historic funicular.
