Author Margaret Kahn releases "Familiar Strangers," a collection of stories on cultural identity, drawn from her time teaching in Iran and working in tech.
Margaret Kahn, a Menlo Park author and linguist, has released “Familiar Strangers: Stories from America and the Middle East,” a collection of 11 short stories drawn from her experiences teaching English in Iran and working in tech and research.
The stories, originally published in now-unavailable periodicals and revised but not updated in setting, explore cultural intersections, identity, and generational divides.
Kahn will discuss the book at a March 10 event at the Redwood City Library with Christine Campbell and a professor emerita from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
