On February 26, 2026, Auckland’s BNZ Lantern Festival began at Manukau Sports Bowl, drawing around 8,000 attendees to enjoy lantern displays, cultural performances, food stalls, and a 3.5-meter moa lantern symbolizing Māori heritage.
The four-day event, now expanded from its previous location, features nightly fireworks and highlights the fusion of Chinese Lunar New Year traditions with New Zealand culture.
Organized by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, it is expected to attract over 150,000 visitors, with free online tickets available.
Meanwhile, spring celebrations in China included scenic tours, a radish carving contest, and cherry blossom viewing.
