Ten Met officers investigated over failures to act on abuse warnings from two women later murdered by Carl Cooper.
Ten Metropolitan Police officers are under investigation by the IOPC over their handling of abuse reports from Naomi Hunte and Fiona Holm, both murdered by Carl Cooper, a 66-year-old handyman sentenced to life in prison in 2024.
The probe includes complaints from both women dating back to 2021, including a 2021 call where Hunte said she was scared of Cooper’s stalking.
An anonymous tip in May 2023, days before Holm’s disappearance, was dismissed as a hoax despite alleging a murder.
The IOPC has issued misconduct notices to ten officers, including a control room constable and several detectives, but no disciplinary outcomes are guaranteed.
The Met has apologized for errors in responding to the victims’ warnings.
