Six Ibadan men, including four brothers, charged with impersonating U.S. women on social media to defraud victims, pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.
Six men from Ibadan, including four brothers, were charged with impersonation over alleged social media fraud on January 25, 2025, using Facebook, Gmail, and TikTok to pose as white women in the U.S.
They allegedly used foreign phone numbers to defraud victims in the Ayegun Oleyo area.
Prosecutors cited Section 484 of Oyo State’s Criminal Laws.
All pleaded not guilty, and each was granted N2 million bail with strict surety requirements.
The case was adjourned to March 10.
A separate case involving a 31-year-old man, Mufutau Ibrahim, also accused of impersonation on Facebook, was adjourned to April 14.
